Forest Access and Closures - Forest access may be closed at any time due to increased risks (i.e. forest operations, fire danger levels or high winds).
ACCESS - GENERAL
- Goudies Road is a private forest road where use requires a PERMIT. The gate and public access across Goudies Road will be CLOSED as from 1 July 2009.
Only vehicles using Goudies Road for forest management related purposes or recreation (hunting access only) may be granted permits. Unauthorised use may result in tresspass. - Access gates on Old Waiotapu Road are currently CLOSED.
- Whakarewarewa Forest offers opportunities for mountain biking, walking and horse riding. For more information contact the Redwoods Visitor Centre or the Rotorua Mountain Bike Club
HUNTING ACCESS
- Hunting access in Kaingaroa, Whirinaki and Rotoehu Forests is now OPEN to the public between 1 May and 26 September 2010 (weekends only).
- Hunting in all other forests managed by Timberlands Limited is not permitted.

FISHING ACCESS
- Access to Lake Rotomahana through Waimungu Forest is OPEN to the public between 1 May and 26 September 2010 (weekends only).
- Access to the Rangitaiki River and Flaxy Lakes is OPEN to the public between 1 May and 26 September 2010 (weekends only).
